In short. Starpillow analyses your sleep on your iPhone. It reads sleep and heart data from Apple Health only with your permission, it does not need an account, and it does not send your nights to our servers. We do not sell or share your data and we do not show ads.
Who we are
Starpillow is made by Alexandr Degteari, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Starpillow apps for iPhone and Apple Watch and the website starpillow.app. Questions: support@starpillow.app.
Starpillow is in development. This policy describes how the app is built to handle data; if anything changes before or after release, we will update this page first and change the date above.
Data the app uses
- Sleep and health data from Apple Health — sleep stages and time in bed, heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, blood oxygen and wrist temperature, when available. Starpillow reads only the types you allow on the Apple Health permission screen.
- Things you enter — tags for your day (for example coffee, a workout, a late dinner), your sleep goal, alarm and app settings.
- Sound, only if you turn on snore detection — the microphone is analysed on your iPhone during the night to find snoring. Audio is never uploaded. Short snore clips are kept on your device only if you choose to keep them, and you can delete them at any time.
Where it is processed and stored
Your sleep score, stages and the “influence” of your tags are calculated on your device. Your data stays on your iPhone, your Apple Watch and in Apple Health. Starpillow has no account and no server that receives your health data. If a future version offers sync between your devices, it will use your own private iCloud storage, and we will update this policy before that version is released.
Apple Health
Data from Apple Health is used only to show you your sleep and how your days affect it. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties or data brokers. You can change or revoke Starpillow’s access in the Health app at any time.
The website
starpillow.app is a static site without cookies, accounts or forms. It is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to serve and protect the site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. The fonts are hosted on our own site.
If you write to us, we keep your email address and message only to answer you or, if you asked, to tell you when Starpillow launches. We delete them on request.
Children
Starpillow is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
Because your sleep data stays on your devices, you control it directly: you can view it in the app and in Apple Health and delete it at any time — see Delete your data. For anything we hold about you (only email correspondence), you can ask for access, correction or deletion at support@starpillow.app. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
